About Us
Abbey Hill Shepherd Huts is a small family business. Our workshop is on a farm in Northamptonshire, close to the famous Silverstone Race Circuit.

Our shepherd hut designs are very much customer led, but we are here to help advise on what may be the most appropriate solution for you.
​
Through autumn and winter 2023 we will be building 'off the shelf' shepherd huts that will be available for immediate purchase in spring 2024. If you have something specific in mind that you want- we can build it for you, or you can reserve a hut for next year.

History of the Shepherd Hut
The Shepherd Hut was an indispensable tool for the shepherd (and his dog). With its wood burning stove, it provided protection from the elements for both the shepherd, and lambs, throughout the lambing season.
​
Lambs that were not thriving could be kept in the lamb rack under the hut and brought into the hut for feeding and warmth when the need arose.
Their use went into decline as farming became more mechanised, the tractor began to replace the horse, and electricity arrived in even remote farms.
